ABOUT
As a 4-year-old, Alec saw ‘Wizard of Oz’ and fell in love with cinema- but architecture was his second love. He dedicated his life to becoming an architect, ultimately studying it in college where that love was reaffirmed. However, architecture didn’t feel like the right career path, as all he could think about was cinema.
One day, Alec worked on set of a short film and within a few minutes of shooting, he knew this is what he wanted to do. While Alec loved architecture, he knew film was the right fit. And as with any good breakup, what he learned from the relationship with architecture informed him on how to approach this new relationship.
Beyond an understanding of visual principals, architecture taught Alec a process and work ethic that carries over to film, as well as the concept of intentionality: Why is a building this color? Why is it this material? Why is it this shape?. These intangibles of instilling every decision with meaning are inherently what makes great cinema.
Now, as a Director/Writer/Editor, Alec’s work focuses on stories with emotional narratives about the human experience. Working in scripted, documentary, and commercial content, Goldberg constantly seeks the right cross-pollination of these types of content to tell meaningful, yet entertaining stories.
Embracing a gritty, yet experimental visual and editing style, his films range from comedy to documentary, to dance/music, to commercial. He has worked on campaigns for brands such as Porsche, Chevron, Jordan, and Off-White. In 2023/24 Alec released his feature documentary: ‘Sitting in the Fire’ (Heartland International Film Festival, Dances With Films Festival, Catalina Film Festival); short film: ‘What Happened to You’ (DOC NYC, Hawaii International Film Festival, Woods Hole Film Festival [Jury Award], Waco Independent Film Festival [Winner], New Filmmakers LA); Meme Me (Orlando Film Festival, Iowa independent Film Festival, Twin Cities Film Festival, and ‘Movers’ [Copenhagen Film Festival - Winner, ReelHeART International Film Festival, InShadow].
